Five DTM titles for Audi, three for Mercedes-Benz, one for BMW – this is the tally of the most popular international touring car racing series since AUDI AG’s return with a factory-backed commitment in 2004.
In the 2014 season the brand is aiming to defend the title and to thus further extend its advantage. This is why Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich and Dieter Gass, Head of DTM at Audi Sport, in 2014 again rely on the successful DTM squad from last year.
Only Filipe Albuquerque is switching to sports car racing and has been replaced by youngster Nico Müller, who left a brilliant impression in several young driver evaluations. Despite many names remaining unchanged there are plenty of new impulses within the Audi line-up.
The reigning champion Mike Rockenfeller in Audi Sport Team Phoenix has received a new teammate, Timo Scheider. Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline is running with Mattias Ekström and Miguel Molina, while Adrien Tambay and Eduardo Mortara are competing for Audi Sport Team Abt. Audi Sport Team Rosberg has welcomed Jamie Green (GB) and Nico Müller (CH) on board. Drivers and teams are touring Europe and Asia in 2014. Six races are held in Germany. The rounds at Moscow and the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria, are on the calendar again. The DTM is celebrating its return to the circuit in Budapest and a premiere in Guangzhou, China. The Audi drivers can look forward to particularly strong support by the fans there as both circuits are in close proximity to the Audi production sites (DTM site).
