Colton Herta announces partial 2026 IMSA campaign with Cadillac

Cadillac Formula 1 test driver Colton Herta will race for the American manufacturer in three IMSA SportsCar Championship endurance contests next year.

Herta will dovetail his F1 duties and an F2 campaign driving for Hitech with appearances at the start-of-season Daytona 24 Hours and Sebring 12 Hours IMSA rounds, plus the season-closing Petit Le Mans event at Road Atlanta.

They will come in a Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R LMDh, which the 25-year-old American will share with full-season drivers Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz in the GTP class.

Herta will be renewing a relationship with Wayne Taylor’s team. He contested the same schedule of events in 2024 aboard an Acura ARX-06 LMDh at a time when WTR was partnered with the Andretti team for which he was racing in IndyCar.

The programme of events yielded victory for Herta at Sebring together with Taylor and Deletraz. Herta said: “Super excited to join Cadillac WTR for the endurance rounds next year.

“We had some success last time I was with the team, and I hope to continue that. Jordan and Louis are some of the best drivers in the business, and it’s a pleasure to join them on this adventure.”

Wayne Taylor added: “We are delighted that Colton can join Jordan and Louis in the #40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R for the endurance events. The trio has been a great match and had great success working together in 2024. Our team has so much positivity going into 2026.”

The signing of Herta, who also raced BMW’s M Hybrid V8 LMDh at Daytona in 2023, came at the same time as Cadillac confirming its full roster for the 2026 IMSA GTP campaign. The full-season line-ups across the two WTR entries and the Action Express Racing car are unchanged.

Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque will continue in the #10 WTR Caddy and will be again joined by Will Stevens, who races for the Jota Cadillac squad in the World Endurance Championship, for Daytona, Sebring and Petit Le Mans.

Jack Aitken and Earl Bamber have been named as the full-season pairing for the #31 Action Express V-Series.R, with Frederik Vesti the third driver for the five rounds that make up the IMSA Endurance Cup.

Vesti will also race for the team at the April Long Beach IMSA fixture, a clash with the Imola WEC round at which Bamber will be racing for Jota. This year, WTR used four drivers at Daytona in January, Toyota WEC regulars Brendon Hartley and Kamui Kobayashi racing #10 and #40 respectively.
