Reigning Supercars champion Chaz Mostert joins Lexus for Detroit IMSA race

Defending Supercars champion Chaz Mostert will co-drive the No. 15 Lexus RC F GT3 with Aaron Telitz for Vasser Sullivan on May 30.

This will be Mostert’s first time competing in the 100-minute sprint race on the streets of Detroit, joining the GTD Pro field. However, it won’t be his first IMSA race. The 34-year-old has three starts in the Rolex 24, earning a class win with BMW Team RLL in 2020. He also took part in the 2018 edition of Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.

Along with 28 Supercars wins (including two in the Bathurst 1000) and the 2025 title, Mostert’s career includes a 2023 Pro-Am win in the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, a 2016 B1 class win in the Bathurst Six Hour, and a 2023 overall win in the Bathurst 12 Hour. He also won an Australian GT title in 2024, and a TCR Australia title in 2021.

“I’m so excited to have the opportunity to race for Vasser Sullivan,» said Mostert. «I’ve raced in the (United) States a few times and always thought that the team looks so professional and like a tightknit family so it’s an honor to be able to race for the team. The Lexus RC F GT3 car looks incredible, and I can’t wait to get my first laps. I’m new to the Toyota-Lexus family and being able to get this opportunity being an Australian driver is very much a pinch yourself moment. I can’t wait to get to Detroit! I love street tracks and am looking forward to the challenge. I can’t thank my Supercar team, Walkinshaw TWG Racing, enough for allowing me to compete.”

The Detroit Grand Prix will be broadcast live and flag-to-flag on NBC and Peacock on Saturday, May 30, beginning at 4 p.m. ET.
