Bogdanov Secures Fifth Consecutive Russian Ice Speedway Title in Krasnogorsk

Krasnogorsk (RUS) – Zorky Stadium

From February 21 to 22, Moscow Region, Krasnogorsk, Stadium Zorky

The 2026 Russian Individual Ice Speedway Championship concluded in Krasnogorsk at Zorky Stadium, where Nikita Bogdanov secured overall victory and claimed his fifth consecutive national title.

The final round of the championship was held over two days in the traditional Grand Prix format, featuring Saturday evening heats under floodlights followed by Sunday’s daytime programme. Approximately 5,000 spectators attended the decisive event in the Moscow Region.

Bogdanov entered the final round as the clear championship leader and delivered a composed and technically precise performance throughout the weekend. Demonstrating consistency in starts, line selection and race management, the defending champion maintained control of the standings and confirmed his dominance in the discipline.

Weather conditions changed significantly on Sunday, with temperatures rising towards zero degrees Celsius. The softer and less predictable ice surface increased the technical demands on riders and contributed to two serious incidents during the programme. In one of the key moments of the day, Ivan Gavrilov collided with Dmitry Koltakov in the second bend; both riders were able to continue without injury.

Despite the more challenging track conditions and late snowfall during the penultimate series of heats, Bogdanov maintained his competitive advantage.

The 2026 season demonstrated increasing competitive depth, with emerging riders closing the performance gap at the front of the field. Nevertheless, Bogdanov’s consistency across all rounds confirmed his position as the leading figure in the discipline.
