Pramac Yamaha set to sign Izan Guevara in MotoGP for 2027

Pending an agreement being finalised in the coming weeks, Izan Guevara will move up to MotoGP next season in a deal to race for Yamaha’s satellite team Pramac, Motorsport.com has learned.

Guevara extended his contract with the Iwata manufacturer by one year at the end of last season, so the agreement between both parties runs until the end of 2027, without stipulating, at that moment, which category he would race next year.

However, after a strong end to the 2025 Moto2 season, in which he won the Valencia Grand Prix, and after his strong start in the category this year, with three podiums in the first five races, including victory last Sunday at Le Mans, both parties are finalising details for the rider to make the jump to the premier class. The deal is expected to be finalised and signed before the summer break.

Guevara, who will turn 22 next month, grabbed worldwide attention in 2022 when he clinched the Moto3 title in a season highlighted by seven victories and 12 podiums, which earned him promotion to Moto2 with the Aspar team. However, the rider did not adapt to the Kalex bike and his first two years in the intermediate class ended badly, with only one podium in 38 races.

But Guevara’s career was reignited last year when he joined Yamaha’s Moto2 project and gained the support of Gino Borsoi, the Pramac team manager. For a short period, Guevara moved to Valencia to work with the Italian team manager in order to regain his form, partly benefiting from a better adaptation to the Boscoscuro machinery.

The end of last season was very positive and, after winning in Valencia, Guevara took part in a private Yamaha MotoGP test held in Valencia on the Wednesday after the grand prix. Despite the far from ideal conditions in late November, his efforts impressed the Yamaha team bosses aboard the M1.

Between Yamaha, Borsoi, the rider and his entourage, a provisional agreement has been reached to see Guevara join Toprak Razgatlioglu at Pramac from 2027.

Miller’s future uncertain

With Guevara poised to join Pramac in MotoGP, Jack Miller would be the rider to make way, which has left his future uncertain. The four-time MotoGP race winner has no offers elsewhere at present and after 16 seasons in the paddock his future appears uncertain.

Factory Yamaha rider Alex Rins, who is also without offers, is set to exit the Japanese manufacturer while team-mate Fabio Quartararo is poised to join Honda next year.

It means Yamaha’s rider line-up for 2027 will only see Razgatlioglu retained, with three new riders coming in: Guevara at Pramac and Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura at the factory Yamaha squad, completing an overhaul led by Paolo Pavesio, Yamaha’s managing director.
