Risi Competizione ready for return to Rolex 24 after one-year hiatus

It has been a long wait for Risi Competizione to get back to the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

The Houston, Texas-based team was not a participant in last year’s running of the endurance classic despite taking a Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) Pro class victory in the 2024 edition of the event. They spent the past year working as part of a technical alliance with DragonSpeed’s full season Ferrari GTD Pro entry. Now, though, they are back and are set to contend all five rounds of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

Full endurance season drivers for Risi Competizione’s No. 62 Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo include Daniel Serra and Davide Rigon, with 2025 FIA World Endurance Champion Alessandro Pier Guidi joining for the Rolex 24.

“I’m very happy to be back with Risi and start this season in Daytona, which is one of my favorite races,” Serra said. “I’m glad to be back with Davide and Ale. Last time in Daytona together we won so it’s a very nice memory. We did all the testing during the Roar. We have a lot of data to analyze and put everything together for the race weekend and I’m looking forward to the race.”

The only absentee from the current driver roster that was part of the ‘24 victory is James Calado.

“It’s quite good here (at Daytona),” Rigon said. “We worked a lot during the Roar with the car and the data to find the best setup for the race and the season and we ended up pretty happy. Of course, I’m not 100 percent sure, but I’m happy about the car balance.

«Let’s see this week with the warmer temperature how it changes, but we’ll be prepared. Of course it’s been amazing to be back here with (Team Principal) Guiseppe Risi and team. We’re super motivated to do our best.”

The trio will aim to add to the organization’s strong success at the 3.56-mile speedway road course. In 18 starts (1999-2024), Risi Competizione has claimed two wins, five runner-up results and one third-place finish.

“I’m happy to be back here with Risi Competizione,” Pier Guidi. “The last time here was a great memory, and I hope to repeat what we did in 2024. For the Roar testing the car was smooth. We did our usual program and now we will wait for the race weekend.”
